We offer cost effective solutions for civil construction in Central Texas.

Mass Grading & Site Excavation Contractor in Texas
DNT Construction delivers site excavation and grading across Texas — with 800+ owned heavy equipment units and three Texas offices, we bring deep in-house capabilities to mass grading, cut-and-fill earthwork, and finished concrete and asphalt paving on commercial, industrial, and data center sites across the state.
Our owned equipment fleet means no rental delays, no third-party scheduling dependencies, and full control over the critical path from clearing to final paving.
Earthwork & Paving Scope We Self-Perform
- Site clearing, demolition, and tree removal
- Mass grading and cut-and-fill earthwork
- Sub-grade preparation and compaction
- TxDOT Item 247 flexible base and road base
- Concrete paving — hardstands, access roads, industrial yards
- Asphalt paving — subdivision streets, parking lots, commercial drives
- Erosion and sediment control (SWPPP)
- Final fine grading and site dress
Why Developers and GCs Choose DNT for Mass Grading
800+ Owned Equipment Units — No Rental Delays
Every piece of heavy equipment on a DNT grading project is owned by DNT. No rental dependencies, no third-party mobilization windows. When the schedule needs to accelerate, DNT adds its own iron.
Three Texas Offices — Closest Crew to Your Site
Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. DNT mobilizes the crew and equipment closest to your project, minimizing move-in cost and keeping field supervision on-site.
Integrated Earthwork and Utilities
DNT self-performs both grading and underground utilities. Coordinating earthwork and wet/dry utility installation under one contractor compresses the schedule and eliminates the conflicts that slow projects when separate subs share the same trench corridor.
Lump-Sum Certainty or Unit-Price Flexibility
DNT prices most earthwork scopes lump-sum when final drawings are available. For early-phase budgets or incomplete designs, DNT can provide unit-price estimates and conceptual cost ranges based on topographic survey and preliminary grading plans.
Scale for Any Site
$700M+ in annual revenue and 1,400 team members. DNT has the bonding capacity, equipment depth, and workforce to execute 500-acre hyperscale data center sites and 1,000-lot master-planned communities without stretching resources.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of projects does DNT perform mass grading on?
DNT Construction performs mass grading on master-planned residential communities, commercial and industrial developments, hyperscale and colocation data center sites, logistics and distribution parks, and municipal infrastructure projects. Site sizes range from single-tract commercial pads to multi-phase communities and data center campuses exceeding 500 acres. DNT self-performs the entire earthwork scope using an owned fleet rather than subcontracting the heavy earthwork.
Does DNT perform both concrete and asphalt paving, or only one?
DNT Construction self-performs both concrete and asphalt paving. Concrete is common for data center hardstands, generator yards, heavy-load access roads, and industrial yard surfaces. Asphalt is typical for subdivision streets, parking lots, and commercial access drives. On many sites DNT installs both — concrete at the building perimeter and generator courts, asphalt on perimeter roads and parking. DNT can price both options during the bid phase.
Can DNT handle off-site soil import or export if the site doesn't balance?
Yes. DNT manages both soil import and off-site export when a site does not balance on its own cut-fill quantities. For import, DNT sources select fill and structural fill from approved regional suppliers and can produce on-site material through its own mobile rock crushing operation. For export, DNT coordinates disposal in compliance with the project's SWPPP and geotechnical restrictions.
What sub-base and paving specifications does DNT work to?
DNT routinely works to TxDOT standard specifications for base course and pavement, as well as private-developer and municipal specifications. Common base course materials include TxDOT Item 247 flexible base, crushed limestone, and recycled concrete aggregate — the last of which DNT can produce on-site through its mobile crushing operation. Concrete paving scopes typically follow ACI 330 for industrial and data center slabs.
How does DNT price a mass grading scope?
DNT prices most mass grading and earthwork scopes lump-sum when final engineered drawings are available. On projects with incomplete design or high subsurface uncertainty, DNT can price on a unit-price basis. For preconstruction and early budget phases, DNT provides conceptual cost estimates based on available topographic survey and preliminary grading plans, with assumptions and contingencies clearly noted.
